Sunday Report

by Ed Dominick

5-July-09

Hi Railfans,

Engineers on this last day of the 4th of July weekend were: Ed and Eric Dominick

Visitors were steady throughout the day

A member of the SD3R Kid's Club, 6 year old Dylan, was allowed to run my Amtrak for over an hour of "fun". His father accompanied him and I bent his ear about model trains.

We presented the public with many different motive power which we enjoyed doing.

I added some "music" to the layout through use of my iPod and a set of external speakers, playing "I Love Toy Trains" and
"Thomas the Tank Engine" periodically throughout the day resulting in some moms/kids swaying to the music.
The Toy Train Gallery is truly a FUN place to visit.

Enjoy the pics.

Ed and Eric Dominick

A "scale calibration" car tails a "coal porter" car. The calibration car was used to certify scales used to weigh coal cars. The coal
porter car was equipped with rotating couplers (as were these on the layout) and was emptied via a device that turned the car 180 degrees while attached to cars on either end.
